McKeag Family
Volunteers with IMSIG for NCAA involvement in Habitat for Humanity
Douglas
B. McKeag, MD, MS, his wife Diana, and daughter Heather, an
Indiana University School of Medicine medical student volunteered
with the Internal Medicine Student Interest Groug (IMSIG) to help
the NCAAA build permanent houses for people displaced by hurricane
Katrina. The houses were built on April 2 during the Men’s Final
Four in Indianapolis. The frames, built in collaboration with
Habitat for Humanity International, were shipped to Beaumont, Texas,
for placement and completion.

There were 120 volunteers who helped
frame three houses, including National Guard members who led the
build. The houses were built as part of the relationship the NCAA
and Habitat for Humanity International formed last fall to provide
hurricane-disaster relief.
