7th Annual ALSO Course

The ALSO Course was sponsored by the Indiana University Family Practice Residency and the Indiana University Department of Family Medicine.

Under the direction of course director, Sharree Grannis, M.D. and advisory faculty, Gaylen Kelton, M.D., three additional certified ALSO instructors along with four other faculty taught the course.

Over 20 participants attended didactic presentations and hands-on workshops dealing with maternity care urgencies, emergencies and procedural skills. The entire freshman class of residents from the Indiana University Family Medicine Residency was in attendance.

This was the first time several nurse midwives from Methodist hospital had attended the program. One other Indiana family practice residency was represented both at the faculty and participant level.

This was the first ever collaboration with Indiana University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology with both an intern and an instructor participating.
