Dr. Allen Attends Unveiling Ceremony

Deborah Allen, M.D., Otis Bowen Professor and Director, Bowen Research Center, attended the unveiling ceremony in the U.S. Capitol of the marble bust of former Vice President James Danforth Quayle Wednesday, September 10, 2003. Dr. Allen, who was Mr. Quayle’s family physician, received a special invitation to the long-awaited unveiling.

The unveiling ceremony was held in the Rotunda at the United States Capitol.  The ceremony included introductory remarks by the Honorable Trent Lott, Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Administration; the Honorable Christopher J. Dodd, Ranking Democratic Member, Senate Committee on Rules and Administration; the Honorable George Bush, 41st President of the United States, and the Honorable Dick Cheney, Vice President of the United States.

Distinguished guests included the Honorable Ted Stevens, President Pro Tempore of the Senate; the Honorable William H. Frist, M.D., Majority Leader of the Senate; the Honorable Tom Dashle, Democratic Leader of the Senate; and the Honorable Tom DeLay, Majority Leader of the House.
