ICN Student Information

Course Requirements:
The student should ideally be designated as a pre-professional major.

The student must have permission from his/her pre-professional advisor to participate in this course.

The student will undergo a health screening, similar to all hospital volunteers, to participate in this course. This includes providing a health history, a tuberculosis test, proof of certain immunizations, proof of immunity to chickenpox, and any other health requirement of the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Hospital Organizations (JCAHO)

Students must be able to perform 3 hours of service each week. The service will be performed either as volunteer service at their assigned clinic site or as service to their project. Service to the project is defined by which project the student chooses as their service project for the semester. The students will be provided a list of possible projects from which to choose from by the AHEC site.

For ICN classes, such as this, students need to register no later than 3-4 weeks before the start of class. This is necessary for the routing of the student enrollment through ICN central office, etc.

Course Credit and Fee Information:
The course is a 3 credit pass/fail course where a passing grade is the work of a “C” or higher. Some ICN institutions will require the “C” or higher clause in order to approve the pass/fail course. Thus, you may want to discuss this with your local registrar.
