IU Family Medicine at Avon is the only family medicine medical office affiliated with the Indiana University School of Medicine serving Hendricks and western Marion counties. The physicians at IU Family Medicine at Avon provide comprehensive medical care that exceeds expectations and is tailored to the needs of you and your family.

In-Office Procedures
IU Family Medicine at Avon offers the following in-office patient procedures:

  • In-Office Laboratory (cholesterol and diabetes testing, etc.)
  • No-Scapel Vasectomy
  • Minor Skin Procedures (mole/wart removal, laceration repair, cryosurgery)
  • Dermabrasion (skin "refinishing" for acne scars, rosacea, sun damage, etc.)
  • EKG
  • Pulmonary Function Testing

The physicians at IU Family Medicine at Avon are available to see patients: Monday thru Friday: 8:00am-noon and 1:00pm-5:00pm.

Meet the Physicians
David L. Fryman, M.D., Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine and Site Director, IU Family Medicine at Avon Dr. Fryman, Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine, received his medical degree from Ohio State University and received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Spring Arbor College. Dr. Fryman completed his residency at Methodist Hospital and is board certified in Family Practice. He is certified by the American Board of Family Practice. His research interests are hypertension, cardiac stress testing, and international medicine. Dr. Fryman brings a well-developed range of procedural skills to our inpatient and outpatient training. He enjoys running, softball, and playing the trombone. He is married and has three children.



Douglas B. McKeag, M.D., M.S.
, OneAmerica Professor of Preventive Health Medicine and Director, IU Center for Sports Medicine
Douglas B. McKeag, M.D., M.S., was appointed Chairman of the Indiana University School of Medicine's Department of Family Medicine in October of 1999. He is also the OneAmerica Professor of Preventive Health Medicine and the Director of the IU Center for Sports Medicine. After receiving his medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 1973, Dr. McKeag completed his internship at the Presbyterian Hospital, Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco in 1974. Following completion of a Family Practice Residency at the Grand Rapids Area Medical Education Program in 1976, Dr. McKeag completed concurrent fellowships in Family Practice and Adolescent Medicine in 1977.
