John L. Turner, Jr., M.D., C.A.Q.
Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine

Dr. Turner is Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine and Associate Director, Education, IU Center for Sports Medicine. He is a graduate of the Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of South Carolina, having completed his residency in Newport News, Virginia. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Dr. Turner is He is certified by the American Board of Family Practice and is a member of the American Medical Association. His professional interests include Primary Care Sports Medicine and work with the Christian Medical Dental Association.

In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Turner, an avid Tarheels fan, will provide clinical care at the IU Center for Sports Medicine at the National Institute for Fitness and Sport (NIFS) and at the IU•Methodist Family Practice Center. He will also serve as team physician for the American Basketball Association’s, "2000 Indiana Legends" professional basketball team. Other professional interests include medical informatics and Palmtop computer use in medicine. Family includes his wife, two daughters, and one son.
