Tamika Dawson, M.D,
Indiana University School of Medicine
Co-Chief Resident
Tamika Dawson, M.D., received her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. She chose the IU Methodist Family Medicine Residency because of the diversity of the staff and residents as well as the strong sports medicine background the residency provides.  Dr. Dawson's area of clinical interest is in sports medicine. Upon graduation from the residency program, her future plans are to continue her education by completing a fellowship in sports medicine. After her fellowship is complete, Dr. Dawson would like to practice in an inner-city setting. Dr. Dawson is a member of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), National Medical Association (NMA), and the American Academy of Family Physicians. In her free time, Dr. Dawson enjoys reading, playing basketball, and watching sports.

Larissa Dimitrov, M.D,
Medical University of Sofia
Larissa Dimitrov, M.D., received her medical degree from the Medical University of Sofia, located in Sofia, Bulgaria. Dr. Dimitrov chose the IU Methodist Family Medicine Residency because of the education opportunities provided and she found that the philosophy of this program compliments her own personality.  Her areas of clinical interest are women's health, preventive medicine, geriatrics, and genetics.  Her areas of research interest include osteoporosis and diabetes mellitus. Upon graduation from the residency program, Dr. Dimitrov's future plans are to pursue a  fellowship in geriatrics. Dr. Dimitrov is married to a fellow physician and has two energetic sons. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, music, and movies.  Additionally, Dr. Dimitrov believes that one's true success in life is received from the proper balance of mind, body, and spirit.

Diana Monova Doncheva, M.D.
Medical University of Varna
Diana Monova Doncheva, M.D., received her medical degree from Medical University of Varna in Bulgaria. She chose the IU Methodist Family Medicine Residency because she was attracted by the warm, supportive educational environment. Additionally, she believes that the program will provide excellent academic and comprehensive clinical skills training. She also loves living in Indianapolis – it is has wonderful cultural opportunities, facilities for almost every major sport, and beautiful natural areas. Dr. Doncheva’s clinical interests are in preventive medicine and pediatrics, and her research interest is in women’s health. Upon graduation, her future plans are to go into private practice. She is married and has a daughter. When not working, Dr. Doncheva enjoys spending time with her daughter, reading and traveling. She also likes going to the Indianapolis Zoo and the Indianapolis Children’s Museum.

Jeffrey Fields, M.D.
Indiana University School of Medicine
Co-Chief Resident

Jeffrey Fields, M.D., received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Fields wanted to stay in Indianapolis and  joined  the IU Methodist Family Medicine Residency because this program offers strong clinical experiences at Methodist Hospital and its sports medicine program. Dr. Fields’ clinical and research interests are in sports medicine. After graduation, he would like to continue his educational experiences at Indiana University and complete the fellowship in sports medicine. Dr. Fields' proposed to his girlfriend, an Indiana University urology intern, while both were working together at a volunteer clinic in Bolivia. They plan to return to Bolivia to continue to contribute to the clinic and the community. Dr. Fields' previously served in the United States Air Force. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and in his off-time, he enjoys mountain biking, climbing, and hiking.


Sara Hamidi, M.D.
Isfahan University of Medicin

Sara Hamidi, M.D., received her medical degree from Isfahan University of Medicine in Iran. Dr. Hamidi searched other residency programs and realized that the IU Methodist Family Medicine Residency’s high level of education, friendly environment, and diverse patient population were her exact interests and goals. She also felt as though she would be treated “as part of family” here. Dr. Hamidi’s clinical interests are in the issues of women’s and children’s health, while her area of research interest is in the dietary needs of children. Her future plans include picturing herself as an educator to patients, families, medical students, and residents and her dream is to continue her career at Indiana University upon graduation. Dr. Hamidi is married and has 2 sons, ages 9 and 4, who both enjoy sports, and in her off-time, Dr. Hamidi enjoys spending time with family, traveling, cooking, and being a good wife and mother.


Anna Mirzoyan, M.D.
Yerevan State Medical University
Anna Sagoyan, M.D., received her medical degree from Yerevan State Medical University. The academic curriculum of the IU Methodist Family Medicine Residency, with its strong commitment to community-based hospital resources, fits in with her future goal of working in a primary care/preventive medicine environment. Specifically, she plans to work in a multi-specialty group, providing care for the growing Russian-Armenian community. A member of CAP, her clinical interest is preventive medicine, while endocrinology is her research interest. When she is not working, Dr. Sagoyan enjoys her family, travel, books, and music.

Dung Van Nguyen, M.D.
University of Hochiminh City, School of Medicine

Dung Van Nguyen, M.D., received his medical degree from the University of Hochiminh City, School of Medicine, in Hochiminh City Vietnam. Dr. Nguyen was interested in staying in the Midwest and found that the IU Methodist Family Medicine Residency is one of the strongest family practice programs. He likes that several large hospitals provide a diverse patient population and an excellent learning environment with all modern equipment. He also likes the friendly atmosphere in a very diverse resident body. He finds the faculty and staff to be very friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable. He especially likes the flat screen computer monitors and electronic medical records that are available to the residents. Dr. Nguyen’s clinical interests are sonography and EGD and tropical diseases and preventive medicine are his research interests. His future career plans are to practice medicine in a private practice, and he is interested in a geriatric fellowship. Dr. Nguyen is married and enjoys traveling with his wife to famous, popular entertainment places and heading to the beach in the summertime. Additionally, Dr. Nguyen is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.


Marissa Reyes, M.D.
St. Luke's College of Medicine

Co-Chief Resident

Marissa Reyes, M.D., received her medical degree from St. Luke's College of Medicine, in the Philippines. What appealed to Dr. Reyes most about the IU Methodist Family Medicine Residency was it's affiliation with Indiana University and the clinical experience being in one of the largest hospitals in Indiana. Additionally, when she visited the residency, she was impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the people. Dr. Reyes’ clinical interests are in women's health and OB-GYN. Her plans upon graduation are to either pursue further interests in OB-GYN or to become a part of a successful practice. Dr. Reyes is married and enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. She also enjoys jet-skiing and playing tennis.


Roopam Shyam, M.B.B.S.
G.R. Medical College
Roopam Shyam, M.B.B.S., received her medical degree from G.R. Medical College in Gwalior, India. Dr. Shyam joined the IU Family Practice Residency due to its high standards, teaching rounds, and well-organized university-based program. She was also impressed with its decent benefits, no scut work, and the residency director. Dr. Shyam's areas of clinical interest are geriatrics and women's health. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Dr. Shyam is married and has a baby daughter.  In her free time, she enjoys gardening, reading books and traveling.

Jianming Song, M.D.
Fujian Medical College

Jianming Song, M.D., received his medical degree from the Fujian Medical College in China. Dr. Song was impressed by the dedicated faculty and their strong commitment to residency teaching, the well-structured training curriculum and diverse clinical experience the IU Methodist Family Medicine Residency had to offer him. He believes that the program offers everything  that is needed to prepare for the challenge ahead for a future family practice.  Dr. Song’s clinical interests are cardiovascular diseases and emergency medicine. His area of research interests are in cancer prevention and gene therapy in cardiovascular disease and cancer. His future career plans are practice medicine in a solo or group practice. Dr. Song is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and Canadian Medical Association. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, swimming, and spending time with his family.
