Fellowships & Faculty Development: Additional Degree Opportunities

A breadth of courses and educational offerings are available through the university system. Those who wish to pursue an additional degree during training may select from:

MPH (Masters in Public Health)
Approved by Residency Review Committee-Family Medicine
Residents begin coursework in second year
Requires application to MPH/IUPUI and approval of program director
Courses taken in evening; Requires fourth year (fellowship possible)
Tuition benefits pay partial expenses.

Requires application to MHA and IUPUI, approval of program director

Health Systems Management Certificate
Provides education regarding the historical, economic, financial, and strategic aspects of the health care industry, while not necessarily requiring an additional year of training. Requires application to program and approval of residency program director.

MBA (Masters of Business Administration)
The Kelley School of Business is available for coursework towards the completion of the MBA. Courses can be taken in the evening. Requires application to program and approval of residency program director.

Medical Humanities Program
Offers coursework designed to explore the concepts of health and illness from an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspective. Courses and seminars vary. Requires application and approval from program director.

Fellowship in Sports Medicine
Application by fall of third year of residency
Training occurs at Methodist Sports Medicine and IU-NIFS
Fourth year (PGY-IV) position; house officer benefits and salary
Qualifies trainee for CAQ; examination required
