John L. Turner, Jr., M.D., C.A.Q.
Indiana University Department of Family Medicine

Dr. Turner is Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine, Associate Director, Education, IU Center for Sports Medicine, and Director of Family Medicine Clerkship. He is a graduate of the Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of South Carolina, having completed his residency in Newport News, Virginia. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Dr. Turner is certified by the American Board of Family Practice and is certified in sports medicine. Additionally, he is a member of the American Medical Association. His professional interests include Primary Care Sports Medicine and work with the Christian Medical Dental Association. Dr. Turner also serves as local high school team physician.

In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Turner, an avid Tarheels fan, provides medical care at the IU Center for Sports Medicine, IUMG Outpatient office, and at the IU•Methodist Family Practice Center. He served as team physician for the American Basketball Association’s, "2000 Indiana Legends" professional basketball team and will be a physician for the 2007 World's Cup of Cricket. Other professional interests include medical informatics and Palmtop computer use in medicine. Dr. Turner is married and has two daughters, and two sons.
