Gaylen Kelton, M.D.

Dr.
Kelton is Assistant Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, Clinical Division director for the Department as well as the Medical Director of the IU/Methodist
Family Practice Center and Associate Professor of Clinical Family
Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of
Ottawa, Canada. He completed residencies in both Family Medicine and
Emergency Medicine at Queens University, Kingston, Canada, and is
board certified in Family Practice and Emergency Medicine. Prior to
joining the faculty in August, 1996, he served patients in private
practice in Timmins, Ontario, where he was a community residency
preceptor and the District Medical Director of Emergency Services.
Dr. Kelton holds fellowships in both the American Academy of Family
Physicians and the College of Family Physicians of Canada, and is
the recipient of the American Medical Association, Physician's
Recognition Award Certificate (AMA PRA), valid through January,
2006. The AMA PRA certificate recognizes physicians who complete at
least fifty hours of continuing medical education annually.
Dr. Kelton’s research interests include medical informatics,
maternity care, and managed care. He is an ALSO advisor and ATLS
instructor, and ACLS and NRP certified. He enjoys most sports,
especially softball and downhill skiing. He is married and has four
