Sharron Grannis, M.D.

Visiting Assistant ProfessorDr. Grannis, received her B.A in Music and Health Sciences (Magna Cum Laude) from Kalamazoo College in 1991 and spent the following year recruiting for her Alma Mater before entering medical school. In 1996 she received her M.D. from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. After completing her Family Medicine Residency at the MidMichigan Family Medicine Residency Program, Midland, Michigan, Dr. Grannis became faculty with her residency program and an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor in Family Medicine with Michigan State University. Dr. Grannis joined the IUSM faculty in the fall of 2001 and Program Director in 2006.

Dr. Grannis' professional interests include obstetrics and gynecology, medicine in developing countries, developing professionalism in learners and end-of-life care. Dr. Grannis is Board Certified in Family Medicine and she is a current member of the American Academy of Family Practice, Indiana Academy of Family Practice, Christian Medical Dental Association, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

In her free time, Dr. Grannis enjoys reading both fiction and nonfiction and walking. She and her husband, a Family Physician and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at IUSM, have three children.
